Many people face a variety of challenges in their working lives. Some of these challenges involve a working environment where someone may be faced with aggressive or violent behaviour.

A whole range of occupations may meet such challenges, such as, health care workers, retail staff, security personnel, private and public services (including all transport services), people who work alone and other care employees. Personal safety and the safety of those under their care are growing concerns for both business managers and their employees.

In addition, businesses have a duty of care to ensure employee and client safety under the Health & Safety Act 1974, the Corporate Manslaughter & Corporate Homicide Bill 2006-7, the Human Rights Act and other relevant legislation to certain industries.
